What pickup and shipping really look like

When you win an item at one of our online auctions, you'll come grab it in person at our place near Hermosa, SD, and you'll have a few days to do it. If you can't make the drive, smaller items can often be shipped, and just holler and we'll help you figure out the details. We give you extended pickup times and hands-on loading help so you're not out there wrestling a table saw into your truck by yourself.

We're Matt and Dawn Ramsey, and we've run this auction company serving Rapid City, South Dakota and the surrounding area since 2018. You can read more about how we got started on our about us page. Here's what to expect once the bidding closes.

When and where do I come get my stuff?

After an auction ends on our HiBid site, you'll get an invoice with the pickup dates and our address south of Rapid City. Most pickups happen over a window of several days rather than one rushed afternoon. That's on purpose. Life gets busy, folks work odd shifts, and some people are driving in from Custer or farther out. That extra time lets you plan the trip when it suits you, no scrambling.

When you arrive, bring a copy of your invoice and something to haul your items in. For a shop and tool auction in South Dakota, that might mean a trailer or a truck bed. If you're not sure what you'll need, just reach out and ask us before you head over. We'd rather answer a question early than have you show up short a strap.

Will you help me load heavy items?

Yes. This is one of the questions we hear most, especially on our equipment auctions in the Black Hills. If you buy something big, a generator, a piece of construction gear, a chunk of farm and shop equipment, we're there to help you get it loaded. We've got the extra hands, and the equipment when it's needed, to help load the heavy stuff onto your trailer.

What we ask in return is that you come prepared for the size and weight of what you bought. Read the item descriptions and look at the photos closely while you're bidding. If a lot weighs several hundred pounds, plan for it. We'll do our part on our end, and between us we'll get it on your rig safely.

What if I can't drive to Hermosa?

Plenty of our bidders live too far away for a same-week pickup, and online bidding in South Dakota draws folks from all over. For smaller, shippable items, we can often arrange shipping. The process usually goes like this: you win the item, you let us know shipping is what you're after, and we'll work out packing and a shipping quote with you.

Larger items, equipment, furniture, anything oversized, generally aren't practical to ship, so those still need in-person pickup or a hauler you arrange. If you're weighing a bid on something big and you're not local, message us first that way nobody's caught off guard once the sale wraps up.

Every auction is a little different, so always check the terms listed on the individual sale. You'll find those, along with everything running right now, on our current auctions page. Whether you're buying, selling an estate, or clearing out a shop, we're glad to walk you through pickup and shipping. Just ask.
