To bid on a Matt Ramsey Auctions shop and tool auction, you’ll create a free account on the HiBid platform, find our current sale, and place your bid on the items you want. Once you’re registered you can bid from your phone or computer, watch the lots you’re interested in, and pay online when the auction closes. That’s the whole idea — here’s how it works step by step.
How do I create an account and place a bid?
Bidding happens through our auctions on HiBid, the nationwide platform we use for every sale. Setting up an account is free and takes a few minutes. You’ll enter your name, contact information, and a payment method to verify who you are, then you’re ready to go.
Once you’re signed in, open our current auctions page or find our sale on HiBid and browse the lots. When you see something you want — a welder, a drill press, a tote of hand tools — enter your bid. You can put in a maximum amount and let the system bid for you up to that limit, or watch the clock and bid manually as the auction winds down. Either way works.
What should I look at before I bid?
Take your time with the photos and the descriptions. We list brand, size, and condition, and we note whether an item was tested and running, has a quirk, or is being sold untested or for parts. That detail is there so you can bid with confidence, even if you’re across the state and can’t walk the aisle in person.
If something powers on but has an issue, we say so plainly. We’d rather tell you up front than have you find out at pickup. If you have a question about a specific lot, reach out through our contact us page and we’ll do our best to answer before the auction closes. It never hurts to ask.
A few things worth checking on any shop and tool auction:

What happens after the auction ends?
When the auction closes, you’ll get an email letting you know which lots you won and what you owe. Payment is handled online, and then it’s time to pick up your items.
